The Act of Forgiveness Is Hard To Do

Well, I think the act of forgiveness is hard to do because it means having to deal with the pain and hurt that was caused by someone or something that was out of our control.

Controlling our own emotions

In this big world of ours, we cannot control another human being. We can’t control how they feel about us or what they think about us. The only thing we can control is ourselves and how we react to unpleasant situations. Our emotions have so many levels to them. I do feel at times that I am unable to control even my emotions. I mean sometimes we act based on our emotions and at other times we act based on logic.

Who wants to or likes to deal with pain and sadness, not many

Balancing our heart and mind

Balancing the mind and the heart at the same time can be tricky. I can assure you that I have not mastered this technique. Sometimes, I am only thinking with my head. On the other hand, at times I am only thinking with my heart. When I use my mind I can control my emotions, but when it is my heart, forget it. I really have no control over my emotions when it comes to the heart. I just follow my feelings. Right or wrong.

When the heart and mind balance one another you feel at peace

Imperfections make us unique

You talk about forgiving you for your imperfections. Why? Your imperfections are a part of who you are. Furthermore, imperfections are what make you unique. Again, no one is perfect. So with that, I am trying to understand where all of this is coming from and why the sudden change of heart? I know it takes time for someone to accept their faults, but let’s understand that I also have flaws and faults. I am not perfect, but I am perfectly perfect in an imperfect way. It’s called being human.

Understanding why forgiveness is important

Again, you continue to ask me to forgive you. I do not understand why? Forgiveness is just as much for you as it is for the other person asking for it. You need to forgive yourself for all the transgressions you have done. This is all part of life and learning and growing. Ya know, a mother doesn’t stop loving her son because he chose to do certain things different than the way she would have done them. In fact, the way I see it is that we need to embrace the opportunities that we were given and accept things just the way they happened. For if they had not happened the way they did, neither of us would have learned and grown from them. Remember a flower takes time to blossom.

Forgiveness
A Swing Set made for Two but without forgiveness you end up swinging alone

If it makes you feel any better “I do forgive you”, the question is “Can you forgive me too”? Our biggest misconception is believing that we know everything when in fact we know that we know nothing (Socrates).

Nature

Recently I took a walk at The King’s Preserve located in Saunderstown, RI. This is a 3 mile walk/hike minimum thru nature. You can go around and around depending on the direction and trail you take. It was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed getting out into the fresh air.

The King's Preserve
Into the deep part of the enchanted forest

Finding yourself in The King’s Preserve?

While walking thru the hood of the woods or as some might say the enchanted forest, I used this opportunity to clear my mind. For instance, I did this by thinking and talking about different things going on in my life. Specifically, I really looked deep into who I am and who I have been as a person. In conclusion, I have realized that Sheri the individual has been weighed down by so many obstacles, pain and negative energy. When I looked deep within myself, I could see and feel the beautiful person that I have always been and wanted to be. Furthermore, I believe my outer shell has been so thick due to all the responsibilities I carry alone. Basically, I use my outer shell to shield me from all the crap I face in reality.

Obstacles in the kings preserve
I literally said “what kind of obstacle is that” LOL

Obstacles keep crossing our paths in The King’s Preserve

Of course there were obstacles along the trail. In life we have obstacles. The question is what do we do when we come to an obstacle? Do we stop and turn back? Do we figure out a way to get through these obstacles? What ways can we move forward if an obstacle or obstacles are in our way. We will have to look at each obstacle one at a time. We have to agree that we are committed to following our path. As above so below. Since we do not choose to go under or can’t fit under the obstacle we can go around the obstacle or above the obstacle.

How do we go above the obstacle? One way is thru our Faith. Where there is hope there is faith. I feel we are guided in one way or another. Why is that? Maybe we are to continue practicing on each other so that we can show others how to get thru obstacles. I don’t know, what do you think? There is no right or wrong answer, I agree to that one. We are stuck to each other so we need to figure out how to be or get along together. Do you feel the good outweighs the bad? or is it that the bad outweighs the good?

Balancing act in The King’s Preserve

Climbing over rocks or broken tree limbs require some kind of balancing act. In fact, not every day is going to be bright and sunny. Moreover, not everyday is going to be perfect. We have to be committed to being able to withstand the downfalls. Kinda like the song “Can you stand the rain” by one of my favorite groups New Edition. Maybe the answer to finding balance means that it must come with compromise. Specifically, I am not an expert at balancing. For instance, my scale either dips all the way to the bad or all the way to the good. Consequently, I mean just being able to balance work and family life is a struggle all in itself. Then in conclusion, maybe part of my journey is finding balance.

Water is Life
Two trees grounded near water..hmmm Water is LIfe

Finding unconditional love in The King’s Preserve

What I really found going deep within The King’s Preserve is unconditional love. Becoming one with myself and loving it too. Looking at the path I was on, the directions I was taking, the balancing acts I had to do climbing over things and the fresh air to help me clear my mind. It was like I took all the weight off my shoulders and just focused on me. I was happy and carefree for that moment in time. Actually the happy and carefree feeling lasted all day and night. I even slept like a baby. I do believe my guides were with me too.

Obstacles to help you find your way

Yes, I saw some stone walls along the way, but they did not stop me. I had to walk thru the muddy waters and even got stuck a few times. Crossed over some bridges and ripped my way through the prickers. Made it to a large body of water at the bottom of the kingdom. Got lost in the woods and just had so many laughs. All and All it was a great experience, I am humbled to have been able to explore and discover nature’s wonders. The best part is being able to share it with you.

Are You Talking To A Stone Wall?

Talking to a Stone Wall
Talking to a Brick Wall

Ever feel as though you are talking to a stone wall? I can tell you or yell at you until I am blue in the face. This is what is means to talk to a wall. The person you are trying to speak to is not listening to you because for one they are mad, two they may feel hurt and three they have most likely put up their defenses. I wonder why?

Talking until you are blue in the face
Talking until I am blue in the face

Keep Arguing with a wall

For starters, we can continue to keep arguing so that we both can talk to a wall. I’ll yell my point with no indication of listening to what you have to say. Then you can yell at me to get your point across knowing that I too have my wall up. It’s like it goes in one ear and out the other.

The best is when we are both yelling at each other at the same time. As you can see, we get so much done doing it this way. It makes so much sense to lose so much time and energy yelling at each other’s walls. Doesn’t it? I feel so good inside because I was able to turn blue in the face and now I’m so tired, I think I’m going to go cry myself to sleep. Do you honestly think this is the best way to handle a disagreement?

shatter screams
Shattered screams or shattered dreams

Continuing to feel hurt because of a stone wall

Since we decided it was best to lose our tempers, lets continue to yell at each other all the annoying things we feel and see about one another. You can start by screaming obscenities out of your mouth and I’ll scream back at the same time. This is the most sensible way to get it out. Do you agree? It just turns me on when a man puts me down. I really enjoy the parts of the argument when I am used as a human body bag. Some may look at that as insane, but come on people this is reality. This kind of stuff happens all the time. You just might not know about it. Not everyone talks about this kind of stuff. The question is, why do we feel we deserve to treat each other in this manner?

Since we have been arguing to prove a point, we mine as well go into fight or flight mode. Why not just shut down? Their are so many reasons to why a person would go into fight or flight mode. It could be because of past hurts that were never fully healed. The argument could trigger past traumas that were never truly dealt with.

Drown out the noise
Drowning out the noise

Are we set in our ways to keep a stone wall up?

Do you believe that part of the reasons we argue at stone walls is because we are set in our ways? I am a very stubborn individual. I was always told that being stubborn or set in my ways can be a good thing and a bad thing. As I got older, I learned how and when to be stubborn. For this reason, my mother always knew that I could not be peer pressured into doing something I didn’t want to do. If I did something, it was because I as an individual chose to do it. Which means that I understood the consequences of my actions. Does this mean I am selfish?

As a parent any decision I make affects not just me but those around me too. Everything is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. When do we know when we have gone too far? It’s like when you have two siblings growing up close in age and they start off joking around until one gets hurt and then boom the wall goes up.

What are you worth?

Has anyone every stopped and asked you what you are worth? Better yet, have you asked yourself what you are worth? If your answer is, I don’t know. My recommendation is that you take a good look in the mirror and evaluate yourself.

what are you worth
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Do I look pretty or handsome?

I always say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. Why, because when I look in the mirror, I see all the wonderful things that make up who I am. Equally, I know I am a good person. By the same token,I know I have have a big heart. Of course, I know I make mistakes. Not to mention, I know I can laugh at myself. Furthermore, I know I impact and help others. See to me these qualities are the beauty that resonates inside me. Expressing these qualities and showing others this quality only happens over time. These are attractive qualities. So if you are attracted to me, I can’t help it. It’s in my nature.

know your worth
I am beautiful

Could I lose a few pounds?

Looking into the mirror, I notice that I’m overweight. Especially when step on the scale and your BMI says “obese”. LOL. All of that can change with the right mind set, diet plan and exercise. I really don’t have any excuse besides the fact that I have stretch marks on my stomach from the muscle elasticity when my stomach grew out to the size of a basketball when I was pregnant. Scars from a couple of surgeries. Taking care of everyone else before taking care of myself. Let’s not forget good old genetics and the wonderful world of motherhood. As I go thru my midlife crisis, I miss the younger days but now it’s my time to focus on Sheri.

Know Your Worth
Know Your Worth

If I only had money?

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses. Look, to each his own, but I am not into plastic surgery. If we could all look like barbie dolls that would be boring. Your outer shell tells a story about you. The wonderful creation of you. Are we a product of our environment? Will money solve my weight problem? Maybe, it would allow me to pay more money for the good quality food. It might help pay for a gym membership and possibly a personal trainer. While this sounds all great, we truly can go for a walk everyday. We can do sit ups, push-ups, meditation, etc in the comfort of our own homes. Basically what I am saying is that we cannot use money as an excuse for why we do or do not do something. If there is a will, there is a way.

what are you worth
I am so worth myself flaws and all

Am I worth it?

Well are you worth it? Only you can answer this question about your self worth. All I can tell you is that, when you know and feel your worth, it don’t matter what others say about you. This is why I focus a lot of my efforts on being grounded and knowing my roots. You stand tall and stronger in your self when you have firm roots.

New World Order

New World order
This is your new world order

Structuring a new year and a new you. Let’s evaluate a new world order. You have a roof over your head. You have food on the table, clothes on your back and utilities. If you do not have these elements, recheck what you need and focus on getting these needs met.

A new world order vision

What’s next on your list? Have you created a vision board? Have you figured out what you want? All you know is that last year things didn’t work out the way you wanted it to. Well if you continue to do the same thing, you will continue to get the same results. The biggest issue with moving forward is not knowing what you want. It’s like being stuck between the past and the future. You go back and forth with your decisions, and while you are wasting time contemplating, the world is still turning.

Bye to the old you
Say Good Bye to the old you

Where to start with your new world order?

No worries, you do eventually get to a point where you say to yourself, “I’m not where I want to be”. That’s ok, because you now know that you will not go back to the past and the only way to go is forward. Where do you start? Well, you already started when you had a conversation with yourself. Understand that when you start moving forward in your own direction, not everyone that was there with you will like it and more than likely they will not be able to move forward with you. You have to also say to yourself “I cannot be held back because of another person” If they are on the same page with me and want to grow, great. You put the ball in their court to make the choice to stay stagnant or to move forward and grow. This goes for everyone, friends and family members. This journey and new world order is about you.

New Year New You
New Year New You

New World Order is a Lifestyle Change

This is when you need to make a head over heart decision. Those who truly love you will understand and support your decision. Those who get jealous and complain about your choices are not happy with it because it effects them and now you’ve put them in a position to make changes. “Oh well”, I say. Watch me work for my new world order. Make the commitment to yourself and work consistently toward your vision. This is a lifestyle change. Plant our seeds today and overtime we will watch them grow.

A new world order can be used for any vision or goal you have with yourself.

Let’s Focus on Stability for Further Growth

January seems to always be a time for new goals and new changes to lifestyles. What better way to reevaluate what is working in your life and what is not working. The goal is to focus on stability for further growth. I am working on making a lot of new changes in my life and so I thought I would share with you some of the necessities I myself evaluate. I like structure and for me I tend to examine the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs to see what I might be missing in order for me to move forward in my journey.

Basic Human Needs
Focusing on the bottom level of Basic Human Needs

Basic Needs to be met for stability

What are basic needs and how do they help us grow? Basic needs are also considered Physiological Needs based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This is the first level of need that needs to be examined. We can not climb the ladder of success until we meet the first criteria.

  • Food
  • Water
  • Warmth
  • Rest

Food for Nutrients to help us focus on stability

Obtaining life and growth thru nutritional substances like protein, calcium, vitamins, etc are what we call food. We need to have the right nutrients to sufficiently help our inner body towards wellness. So basically we need food to survive? Right? Exactly. However, we need to know how to plant seeds, grow these seeds, weed when necessary and pick when ripe. Maybe this is the year you learn how to build and grow a garden. Self-sufficient and less costly.

Water for health
How much water is enough water for my body?

Water is Life

If water is life than it would make sense that we need water to survive. Our bodies are made up of about 60% of water. The brain and heart are composed of about 73-80% of water and the lungs about 80-83% says the USGS Science for a changing world. It is a known fact that the body needs both food and water to survive. Not to mention that water is needed to help our plants grow. And what do plants provide? Nutrients or for a more simpler term food. So then the reason why plants rely on the rain is to receive the water it needs. We will not be focusing on droughts in this blog, but I am aware of the ecosystem and I hope you are getting my point here.

Sunlight for warmth
Sunlight Peaking Thru so soak up the sun

Warmth from Sunlight

A human needs warmth. Some might say warmth comes from being nurtured thru kindness and love. Warmth also helps to keep the body from freezing to death. We can also say that warmth stands for shelter. It is interesting when you compare the human basic needs to that of a plant isn’t it? In order for a seed to grow it needs sunlight so that it can produce it’s own food. Plants do this by combining air and the water from the soil, but to ignite the combustion, it needs the energy source from the sunlight. This process is called Carbon Dioxide. Sometimes plants are grown in greenhouses so they can grow and survive thru the colder months.

Well-Rested can maintain our stability

And wouldn’t ya know it, our bodies need rest. What happens when we get the right amount of sleep? As a matter of fact, we function so much better. Specifically, we are more focused and alert. Moreover, we don’t feel like we are dragging our feet. As a result, we actually feel less stressed over all. Furthermore, I could go a lot deeper into stresses and all but for this blog, I am keeping it simple. In conclusion, our bodies need time to rest to rejuvenate and plants need time to grow properly.
