Dear Dream Catcher | October 2026 Full Moon Reflection
Sometimes, preparing for the next chapter of your life begins with deciding what you are no longer willing to carry.
As we approach the Hunter’s Moon, I find myself reflecting on a question that feels especially fitting for this time of year:
What are we still chasing, and why?
Are we chasing happiness? Security? Love? Validation? The answers to questions that have followed us for years? Or perhaps we’re chasing a version of ourselves we once believed we needed to become.
Sometimes, we spend so much of our lives pursuing what we think will finally make us feel complete that we forget to stop and ask ourselves whether we’re even chasing the right things anymore.
The Hunter’s Moon carries a history rooted in the changing seasons, when the harvest had been gathered and people prepared for the colder months ahead. Symbolically, it offers us an opportunity to take inventory of our own lives. To look at what we’ve gathered along the way, what has sustained us, and what we may need to leave behind as we move into our next season.
And this year, with the Full Moon in Taurus and the Sun in Scorpio, there is an especially meaningful invitation to look a little deeper.
The Comfort of What We Know
Taurus is associated with stability, comfort, security, and self-worth. It reminds us to appreciate the simple things that ground us: a peaceful moment, a familiar place, the people who make us feel safe, and the quiet knowledge that we are enough just as we are.
But there is a difference between finding comfort in something and holding on to it because we’re afraid of what might happen without it.
Sometimes, we stay in situations that no longer nourish us because they’re familiar. We keep chasing the same outcomes, repeating the same patterns, and telling ourselves that if we just try a little harder, things will eventually become what we hoped they would be.
We convince ourselves that familiar means safe, even when it costs us our peace.
So perhaps this full moon is asking us to consider: Are we building a life that genuinely feels good to live, or are we simply holding on to what we already know?
The Truth Beneath the Surface
Across the zodiac, Scorpio brings a different kind of energy. Where Taurus seeks stability, Scorpio invites transformation. It encourages us to look beneath the surface, acknowledge uncomfortable truths, and recognize the things we may have been avoiding.
Sometimes, the hardest truths are the ones we already know but aren’t quite ready to admit.
Maybe we’re holding on to a relationship because we’re afraid of being alone. Maybe we’re seeking validation from people who cannot give us what we need. Maybe we’re trying to prove our worth to someone who was never willing to see it.
Or maybe we’re holding on to an old version of ourselves because we haven’t yet figured out who we are becoming.
Transformation doesn’t always arrive as a dramatic ending or a sudden revelation. Sometimes, it begins quietly, with the moment we finally become honest with ourselves.
And honesty can be uncomfortable. It can challenge our choices, our expectations, and the stories we’ve told ourselves about how our lives were supposed to unfold.
But we cannot prepare for a new chapter while refusing to acknowledge what the last one has taught us.
What Are You Holding On To?
The Taurus–Scorpio opposition invites us to reflect on security, attachment, and change. Astrologically, the tension between these signs can symbolize the struggle between wanting things to remain familiar and knowing deep down that something needs to change.
We may want change while simultaneously resisting everything that change requires of us.
We want peace, but we keep entertaining chaos. We want different results, but we return to familiar habits. We want to move forward, but we keep looking backward for answers that may no longer be there.
And sometimes, without even realizing it, we become so focused on holding everything together that we forget to ask whether everything we’re holding on to still belongs in our lives.
Letting go doesn’t mean that something never mattered. It doesn’t erase the memories, the lessons, or the love that may have been part of our journey.
It simply means we recognize that something can have meaning in our lives without needing to remain there forever.
Not every ending is a failure. Not every change is a loss. And not everything we once wanted is something we still need.
Sometimes, letting go is how we make room for the life we’re trying to build.
Reconsidering Our Worth
This full moon also gives us an opportunity to reflect on love, relationships, and the values we carry. Venus, astrologically associated with love, beauty, relationships, and self-worth, is retrograde during this period, adding another layer to that reflection.
Are we giving our energy to relationships that nourish us? Are we making choices that honor our needs? Are we measuring our worth through the approval of others, or are we learning to recognize it within ourselves?
We cannot always control how others see us, what they choose to give us, or whether they understand the love and effort we bring into their lives.
But we can begin to question why their recognition has become so important to our sense of self.
Your worth isn’t something you have to chase down, convince someone to acknowledge, or earn by making yourself smaller.
You are allowed to want more for yourself. You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to outgrow situations, expectations, and identities that no longer reflect who you are.
And you are allowed to choose peace without needing to explain that choice to everyone.
The Hunter’s Moon: Preparing for What’s Ahead
Perhaps this is where the Hunter’s Moon offers its greatest lesson.
The changing seasons remind us that preparation is not simply about gathering more. Sometimes, it’s about recognizing what we already have, tending to what matters, and deciding what we need for the road ahead.
We cannot carry everything with us.
Some things have served their purpose. Some lessons have already been learned. Some dreams may need to change shape, while others deserve another chance.
The challenge is learning to recognize the difference.
As we move toward the next season of our lives, we can ask ourselves what truly sustains us. What gives us strength? What brings us back to ourselves when the world feels overwhelming? What are we investing our time, energy, and love in?
And just as importantly, what are we allowing to drain us?
Preparing for what’s ahead means making room for the possibility that life may look different from what we imagined. It means tending to our emotional well-being, strengthening the foundations that support us, and being honest about what we need to leave behind.
We don’t have to have every answer today. We don’t need to know exactly how the next chapter will unfold.
Sometimes, preparing for the future begins with a single honest decision in the present.
It begins when we stop chasing what no longer aligns with us, release the need to control every outcome, and make space for possibilities we may not yet be able to see.
What If You Stopped Chasing for a Moment?
Dear Dream Catcher, perhaps the question isn’t simply what you’re chasing.
Perhaps it’s what you’re chasing it for.
Are you pursuing something because it genuinely speaks to your heart, or because you believe reaching it will finally make you enough?
Are you holding on because something brings you peace, or because the thought of letting go frightens you?
And if you stopped chasing for just a moment, what might you finally have the space to notice?
Sometimes, we become so focused on reaching the next destination that we forget to appreciate where we are right now. We overlook the lessons we’ve learned, the strength we’ve developed, and the little things that make our lives meaningful.
The Hunter’s Moon reminds us to look ahead, but also to look within. To recognize what we’ve gathered, honor what we’ve learned, and prepare ourselves for whatever comes next.
You don’t have to chase every opportunity, answer every question, or hold on to every person and possibility that crosses your path.
Sometimes, the most meaningful progress happens when we become still enough to recognize where we truly want to go.
May this full moon bring you the clarity to see what matters, the courage to release what no longer serves you, and the wisdom to prepare for the season you’re stepping into.
Because the next chapter of your life deserves more than whatever you’ve been carrying out of habit.
It deserves the version of you who has learned, grown, and become brave enough to choose differently.
Keep dreaming, keep growing, and keep finding the beauty through the chaos.
🌕 Your Full Moon Reflection
As you sit beneath the light of the Hunter’s Moon, take a few moments to reflect on these questions:
- What am I still chasing, and why?
- What am I holding on to simply because it feels familiar?
- Where in my life am I being asked to recognize my worth?
- What am I ready to release before entering my next season?
- What can I do today to prepare for the life I want tomorrow?
You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes, asking the right questions is where the real transformation begins.
P.S. — Preparing for What Lies Ahead
As the Hunter’s Moon rises in Taurus, take a moment to consider what you’re carrying into your next season. Are you holding on to things that bring you peace and stability, or are you carrying old fears, expectations, and burdens that no longer serve you?
Preparing for what’s ahead sometimes means making room for something new. It means tending to what grounds us, recognizing what needs to change, and trusting ourselves enough to move forward without having every answer.
You don’t have to have the entire path figured out. Sometimes, preparation begins with simply deciding what you are no longer willing to carry.
As you move into this next chapter, what will you choose to keep, what will you release, and what are you preparing to welcome?
I’d love to hear your reflections in the comments. 💌
